Besides TRL, The Hills, and Laguna beach, “My Super Sweet 16” was definitely one of my must watch shows in high school.
I just remember watching some of these kids thinking, “what the hell are wrong with their parents”? It’s just crazy to me to see sixteen-year-olds plan million dollar parties. Parties that probably cost more money than their parent’s wedding, but hey it does make great entertainment. Can’t wait for the new season! Now, can MTV bring the rest of my favorite shows back???

Reports that the iconic show would be making a comeback first broke on Monday morning through an email blast sent by casting company Doron Ofir. The notice seemed to indicate that the revival was only in the early stages of production, with casting teams just beginning their search for teens who will be celebrating their “sweet sixteen, quinceañera, debutante ball, debut, or any other coming of age milestone” with an excessive affair. “Doron Ofir Casting is searching nationwide for the most popular, outrageous, glitzy, girls and boys who are planning extravagant parties that will show the world just how #blessed they really are!” a posting on mysupersweetcasting.com reads.
In addition to broadening its focus beyond 16th birthday parties, it appears the new iteration of the show will also focus on teens who have a commanding presence both in real life and on social media. Candidates are being asked to submit their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles in addition to personal information about themselves and their celebration when applying. “We want to showcase the most Instagram-enviable celebrations ever seen,” the casting announcement reads. “Snap the sweetest and most memorable moments of your life that’ll make all your Snapchat followers comment #goals when they see just how turnt your party gets!”
