Jay Z Reveals The Meaning Behind Rumi & Sir Carter’s Names

Celebrities are known for giving their children these weird, crazy names that no one’s ever heard of. Sometimes it sounds great and then you have those times when you’re like what the hell were they thinking naming their child that?

Jay Z sat down with Rap Radar hosts, Elliot Wilson and Brian Miller about his new album 4:44. While there he opened up about his kids, Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir Carter. Don’t you just love that over the past couple weeks Jay-Z has been opening up more about his family? The Carter’s are usually private, so private that it causes the media to come up with their own stories on what’s going on in the Carter household LOL.

Jay Z explains why he and Beyonce chose the names Rumi and Sir. He said, “Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter. Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.

He also had this to say about Blue Ivy’s freestyle on 4:44! “She got the headphones and she climbed on the little stool, and then she just started rapping. I was like, ‘Oh, s—.’ I have her [her full freestyle] on my phone. Five minutes! Five minutes of her doing that.”

Now, all the Beyhive is asking for is some updated pictures of Rumi and Sir and maybe a Carter family picture!
